US stocks end mixed as chip shares fall
The S&P 500 closed at 7,807.24, down about 0.1%, the Dow gained 0.4% to 51,850.55 and the Nasdaq lost 0.4%.

The S&P 500 closed at 7,807.24 on Monday, about 0.1% lower, after ending Friday at 7,811.54, just below its record. The Nasdaq Composite fell about 0.4% to 27,245.90 as semiconductor stocks declined.
US bond markets were shut for Columbus Day while equities traded. Citigroup, JPMorgan and Wells Fargo report earnings on Tuesday.
